Highlanders FC secured a valuable 2-1 victory over FC Hunters at Barbourfields Stadium on sunday, producing a disciplined and resilient performance to collect all three points in Matchday 15 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Aware of the importance of the fixture in the title race, Bosso started aggressively and were rewarded early when Marvin found the net from a well-worked set-piece in the second minute. The early goal reflected the team’s tactical preparation and desire to impose themselves from the opening whistle.
Highlanders controlled large portions of the first half through effective pressing, strong defensive organisation and purposeful attacking play, particularly down the right flank. Goalkeeper Aron Ngwenya played a key role in maintaining the lead, making several important saves to deny FC Hunters opportunities to level the score.
The visitors remained competitive throughout the contest, capitalising on second-ball situations and creating pressure through central areas. However, Highlanders showed composure and tactical discipline to manage the threat.
The second half saw an improvement in attacking intensity, with substitutes Prince and Brighton making an immediate impact. Their introduction provided greater support in advanced areas and increased the team’s attacking momentum.

Highlanders’ second goal came from a quick transition, with Aron Ngwenya’s long distribution finding Brighton, whose flick-on released Benji to finish clinically and double the advantage.
Although FC Hunters pulled a goal back following a brief lapse in concentration, Bosso remained composed and controlled the latter stages of the match to secure a deserved victory.
The result sees Highlanders conclude their third competitive cycle with 11 points from a possible 15, highlighting the team’s continued growth in consistency, tactical understanding and competitive mentality.
Head Coach Benjani Mwaruwari praised the players for their commitment and resilience while emphasizing the need for continued improvement in transition management, possession retention and defensive compactness.
Highlanders now turn their focus to the next fixture with confidence, determined to build on the momentum generated by another important victory at Barbourfields Stadium.
