Highlanders FC claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Scottland at Barbourfields Stadium, collecting maximum points in front of the Bosso faithful with a disciplined and determined performance.

The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Benjamin Odeogun found the back of the net, finishing off a move that proved to be the decisive moment of the afternoon. Despite both sides showing plenty of attacking intent in the opening stages, it was Highlanders  who made their opportunity count.

Highlanders went into the break with a slender 1-0 advantage after three minutes of added time were played at the end of the first half.

The hosts looked to inject fresh energy in the 58th minute, introducing Brighton Ncube and Royn Nyamono in place of Odeogun and Never Rauzhi. Three minutes later, Scottland’s task became even tougher when Kelvin Moyo was shown a red card, reducing the visitors to 10 men.

Bosso continued to press for a second goal. In the 72nd minute, Mongameli Tshuma produced a superb run down the right before picking out Royn Nyamono, whose goal-bound effort was bravely blocked by the Scottland defence. Another double substitution followed two minutes later as Isaac Ngoma and Prince Ndlovu replaced Reason Sibanda and Darlington Mukuli.

After four minutes of added time at the end of the second half, the final whistle confirmed a deserved 1-0 victory for Highlanders, extending the celebrations around Barbourfields Stadium as the club secured all three points.

Tawanda Shenje was deservedly named Man of the Match after an outstanding display that anchored a resolute Highlanders performance from start to finish.
