Dominant Bosso Forced to Settle for Stalemate Against Ngezi

BULAWAYO — Highlanders produced a commanding performance at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday afternoon but were left frustrated after being held to a 0-0 draw by Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Bosso controlled large spells of the contest, pinned the visitors deep inside their own half, and created the better chances throughout the afternoon. However, a lack of cutting edge in front of goal denied the hosts what looked like a deserved victory.

Fast Start, Total Control

The boys showed attacking intent from the opening whistle. Inside the very first minute, Darlington Mukuli combined brilliantly with Benjamin Adeogun to win an early corner and set the tone for a high-tempo display.

Ngezi resorted to physical challenges in an effort to disrupt Highlanders’ rhythm in midfield, with Rainsome Pavari receiving an early booking after a cynical foul on Brooklyn Katumba. At the other end, the Bosso backline remained solid, even after Lawrence Mhlanga was cautioned for stopping a dangerous counterattack led by Qadr Amin.

Kudakwashe Mahachi proved a constant threat down the flank, tormenting defenders with his movement and delivery as Highlanders continued to pile on the pressure.

Just before halftime, Bosso turned up the intensity even further, forcing three consecutive corners and pinning the platinum miners inside their own box. Despite the sustained pressure, the breakthrough remained elusive.

Tshuma Lights Up the Second Half

The second half brought even greater attacking urgency from Highlanders, with Mongameli Tshuma coming to life in spectacular fashion.

Tshuma repeatedly carved open the Ngezi defence with his dazzling footwork and direct running.

Speaking after the match, Head Coach Benjani Mwaruwari praised the overall performance but admitted the decisive touch in front of goal was missing.

“For Mongameli, it was a clearer chance to score than to miss. But that happens in football,” said Mwaruwari.

Despite the disappointment, Highlanders will take encouragement from another disciplined defensive display and an energetic attacking performance.

The boys now shift focus to their next assignment, with a trip to Mutare on the horizon for a clash against Manica Diamonds next weekend.

A special thank you goes to the Amahlolanyama faithful, who once again transformed Barbourfields Stadium into a sea of noise and passion. Your unwavering support continues to drive the team forward.
