Highlanders FC returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Agama FC at Barbourfields Stadium on Thursday afternoon, courtesy of a stoppage-time winner from Royn Nyamono.
Bosso started brightly and showed attacking intent from the opening whistle. Just two minutes into the contest, Royn Nyamono delivered a dangerous ball into the area, where Benjamin Adeogun rose highest to meet it with a header, but his effort drifted narrowly wide.
The home side continued to apply pressure as the first half progressed. In the 9th minute, Andrew Mbeba whipped in an inviting cross that found Mongameli Tshuma inside the box, but the Agama goalkeeper produced a fine save to keep the scores level.
Despite dominating possession and creating the better opportunities, Highlanders were unable to find a breakthrough before the interval, with the two sides heading into the halftime break locked at 0-0.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Bosso pushing forward in search of the opening goal. Isaac Ngoma and Kudakwashe Mahachi were introduced in the 56th minute as Highlanders looked to inject fresh energy into the attack.
Just three minutes later, Nyamono produced a moment of brilliance, weaving his way past defenders before being brought down on the edge of the box. Mbeba stepped up to take the resulting free kick, but his effort sailed over the crossbar.
Ngoma nearly made an immediate impact in the 61st minute when he found space inside the area and unleashed a shot on goal, only to be denied by another excellent save from the Agama goalkeeper.
As the clock ticked down, Agama continued to frustrate Highlanders, but the hosts refused to give up. With three minutes of added time indicated, Bosso kept pushing forward and were finally rewarded deep into stoppage time.
Right at the death, Royn Nyamono emerged as the hero, finding the breakthrough and sending the Barbourfields faithful into celebration as Highlanders took a deserved 1-0 lead.
The referee brought proceedings to an end, confirming a hard-fought victory that saw Highlanders claim all three points.
