Highlanders FC suffered a 4–2 defeat at the hands of CAPS United in an action-packed Battle of the Cities at Rufaro Stadium.

The two sides went into the halftime break level at 0–0 after a competitive opening 45 minutes. Bosso had their moments, with one of the best opportunities coming when Mongameli Tshuma produced a defence-splitting pass to release Benjamin Odeogun, whose powerful effort was well saved by the CAPS United goalkeeper.

The complexion of the game changed immediately after the restart, with CAPS United opening the scoring through Meke in the 46th minute.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 58th minute before adding a third in the 64th to leave Highlanders with a mountain to climb.

Bosso responded in the 70th minute when Benjamin Odeogun converted from the penalty spot to make it 3–1 and give Highlanders hope of finding a way back into the contest.

Highlanders made changes in search of another goal, with Prince Ndlovu and Marvin Sibanda replacing Darlington Mukuli and Mvelo Khoza. Prince Ndlovu was later forced off through injury, with Isaac Ngoma taking his place, while Shelton Moyo came on for Never Rauzhi.

CAPS United restored their three-goal advantage in the 85th minute, making it 4–1.

Bosso continued fighting until the end and were rewarded deep into the closing stages when Isaac Ngoma converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit to 4–2.

That proved to be the final goal of the afternoon as the referee brought proceedings to a close at Rufaro Stadium.
