Highlanders FC were forced to settle for a point on the road after playing out a goalless draw against Triangle United at Gibbo Stadium.
It was a tightly contested encounter, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut opportunities during a cautious opening half. The battle was largely fought in midfield, and neither team managed to find the decisive touch in the final third as the sides went into the break locked at 0-0.
Highlanders made a change at half-time, with Lawrence Mhlanga replacing Luckmore Mutumbi as Bosso looked to inject fresh energy into the contest.
The second half opened up, and goalkeeper Aron Ngwenya emerged as one of the key figures for Highlanders.
In the 56th minute, Ngwenya produced a superb reaction save to deny Triangle from close range. Just four minutes later, he was called upon again when a Triangle attacker raced through one-on-one. Ngwenya stood tall and pulled off another excellent stop to keep Bosso level.
Highlanders looked to change the momentum with a triple substitution in the 58th minute as Akim Nkomo, Royn Nyamono and Brighton Makopa replaced Benjamin Odeogun, Prince Ndlovu and Shelton Moyo.
Darlington Mukuli was later introduced for Marvin Sibanda as Bosso searched for a late breakthrough.
Despite the changes and three minutes of added time, neither side could find the goal that would separate them.
The final whistle confirmed a 0-0 draw and a hard-earned point on the road for Highlanders, with Ngwenya’s crucial saves ensuring Bosso left Gibbo Stadium with something to show for their efforts.
